  • A male lion club (panthera leo) resting on a dirt bank is panting from play with siblings. Observed on safari in South Africa, this juvenile is just starting to show a tuft of fur that will become the mane. The lion is a member of the family Felidae. They typically inhabit savanna and grassland, although they may take to bush and forest.
