From Travel - Czech Republic

  • A single flower that is left by someone's name at the 9/11 memorial in New York City.
  • The landmark Public Market neon sign and clock at the Pike Place Market in Seattle. As seen through raindrops on a car windshield at night, it can be seen as a archetype image for Seattle.
  • The Samuel Beckett Bridge is the newest bridge to cross the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland. The modern structure is curved in the shape of a harp and uses cables, like a suspension bridge, to maintain the structure.
  • A herd of wildebeest on the grassland at Phinda Game Reserve in South Africa. The blue wildebeest (connochaetes taurinus) is a large ungulate mammal of the Bovid family that range the open plains, bushveld and dry woodlands of Southern and East Africa, realizing a life span in excess of twenty years. This herbivore is a grazing animal that is often sighted in open grasslands or clearings in a savanna.
  • A reflection of two Jewish people in an old mirror, spotted with age, in one of the bathrooms at the Theresienstadt concentration camp in the Czech Republic. In a form of Impressionism, the ghostly image represents a reflection of two people but also a historical reminder of the memory of the Holocaust.
  • A statue of a saint with a copper halo on the Charles Bridge in Prague is silhouetted against a cloudy sky.
  • An ancient stone circle at Dombeg in County Cork in the southern part of Ireland. Stone circles were characteristic of the Bronze Age Celtic culture. Stone circles were often used for astronomical purposes although some believe that they might have been burial tombs.
  • Castle Minard is an old castle on the west coast of Ireland near the Dingle peninsula, destroyed by an explosion several hundred years ago. The stones on the nearby beach provide foreground interest.
  • A man, resting in the shade in the city of Safed (aka Zefat or Tzfat) in the Northern Galilee section of Israel. (Scanned from black and white film.)
