National Park - Mt. Rainier
This gallery includes a series of photographs from two different winter expeditions to Mt. Rainier National Park. In both cases, I was on a snow camping adventure trip with a troop of boy scouts who were intending to dig snow caves as part of a survival training. We reached somewhere between 6,000 and 7,000 feet up on the mountain which is about 2,000 meters. Each time, I was fortunate enough to end up with good weather -- sun and scattered clouds with a bit of blustery wind during the night. The end result are a set of unusual photos of Mt. Rainier in winter in the sun -- and the photos at dawn of the boy scouts and their troop leaders show how nice it could be.

A colorful tent located at 6,000 feet up on Mount Rainier. This is an unusual winter image of the mountain since it was taken in sunlight with light clouds drifting over the summit. This would be a typical starting off point for an expedition to climb up the mountain.
